Join Sharon and Anu Gupta on September 29th for a four-hour workshop, Love Your Enemies: Challenging Assumptions & Breaking Bias, hosted by the Insight Mediation Society. What does it really mean to love your enemies? What is the promise of breaking bias? In a world that seems increasingly governed by enmity, lovingkindness often isn’t seen as a power but as a terrible weakness. To the untrained heart and mind, lovingkindness may be associated with giving in, being subservient, or having no boundaries. But when we investigate the energy of love, it has a real strength to it.
In this workshop, we invite you to explore human identities and identity-based biases and use lovingkindness to dismantle learned bias within ourselves and in the world around us. From that understanding we can take steps away from the rigid, prevailing "Us-versus-Them" animosity, embrace intensified interconnection and celebrate our true human diversity. We can transcend the notion that rejecting enmity implies weakness and seek creative solutions to conflicts.
Through discourse, discussion and meditation practice, we will reflect on how we view lovingkindness, adversity, and our own assumptions about ourselves and others.
This program will be recorded and made available for on-demand viewing after the live sessions. On-demand videos will be available to registered participants only for 90 days.
