Seeds of Compassion Workshop

Join world-renowned meditation teacher Sharon Salzberg for a virtual interactive workshop as part of the Contemplation by Design Summit. This Summit is a campus-wide, multidisciplinary series of FREE events hosted by Stanford Medicine from Oct. 23 - Nov. 3, 2024. Sharon is offering three different programs as part of this Summit - Compassion and Joy: Practicing the Dharma in Times of Uncertainty on October 31st, a Guided Lovingkindness Practice on November 1st and and this interactive workshop, Seeds of Compassion.

Lovingkindness meditation is a process that emphasizes compassion for ourselves and others as the best field for learning, self-development, and an ethical relationship to the world. This practice develops greater concentration, an expanded sense of connection, skills to deal with anger, fear and frustration, and a better sense of balance in both taking care of ourselves and taking care of others.  Sharon Salzberg will explore the theory behind these meditation exercises and support us in our own experience through direct instruction, using classical techniques in a modern idiom. There will also be opportunities for questions. This workshop is suitable for both new and experienced meditators.
